And the children up in Gfrill, my grandmother's 16 kids - all the women had that many children because there was no television then. Well, anyway, all of them were born without a midwife, just the neighbour there to help out, but it always seemed to go reasonably well. A few babies did die during labour, but God needs little angels, they used to say. Yes, that was taken for granted.
